The Laughing Cavalier
Book, by Richard Pearson
Richard Spender studied at King Edward VI School, Stratford-upon-Avon from 1930 to 1940. From school he went straight into the Parachute Regiment and was killed in action in Tunisia in 1943 at the age of 21. At that time his poetry had been published and his reputation was growing. For over fifty years his verse has been out of print.
The Laughing Cavalier is the first edition of Spenders complete Collected Poems, and includes a biographical introduction by School archivist, Richard Pearson.
